Grainger teaches steward training, collective bargaining, arbitration and effective leadership. He worked as Executive Director of the Little Rock Classroom Teachers Association, an affiliate of the Arkansas Education Association and the National Education Association. Grainger served as president of both LRCTA and AEA and sat on the executive boards of the National Council of Urban Education Associations and the National Council of State Education Associations. He began his career as an English teacher in the Little Rock School District and has a BA in English and Education from Syracuse University and a Masters in History from UA Little Rock. He is currently an associate member of the United Steelworkers, and a life member of the AEA.
